Mike Huckabee at the NRA

On C-SPAN tonight, they had a replay of Mike Huckabee speaking at the NRA Convention. Right before that, I caught the tail end of Guliani speaking to the Convention. It was his usual: “nobody’s the perfect candidate for you, but I’m the most electable (not really, Mr. Mayor) so vote for me.” Then Huckabee came on…

He was, as usual, funny, relaxed, and personable. He made clear points, with no double-speak or easily misinterpreted statements. He gave more and more reasons to support him, and after watching him tonight, I’m even more in his camp. As usual, he had a whole bunch of great punch-lines, the best of which being this (slight paraphrase as I don’t have the text in front of me:

I was talking to a group of reporters, and one of them said to me, “I don’t think people need to be using automatic weapons for hunting.” I replied, “I don’t either, but I know a lot of people who like to use semi-automatic weapons for hunting.” She asked, “What’s the difference?” I wanted to say several points in an IQ…
