Why America Is in For It
The American people are callous and unawares. They are not fighting this war. They could care less about keeping radical Islamic fascists from attacking our country. I offer this piece of junk and the subsequent comments as proof that the American people really don’t care.
The sick irony of this is that had these apparently inept terrorists succeeded in pulling off their plot, everyone would have been calling for the President’s head on a platter (as if they aren’t already). Throwing aside the fact that the whole thing was set up by an FBI operative, the fact that there are people willing to do this is sickening. Also, it’s not hard to get a gun and go on a spree, as has been illustrated by the recent VA Tech massacre. If any terrorist decides to do this, everybody’s going to want to know why the Bush administration didn’t stop him.
People such as those that wrote the post I linked to are clearly one of three things: naive, misguided, or unable to handle the truth. I have yet to figure out what it is that so deeply offends them about waging war on those who seek to kill Americans. Perhaps they like being blown into a million pieces, or just a simple gunshot to the head. Do they hate the troops more than they hate the terrorists?
Also, this ridiculous statement that the Bush Administration is acting like they caught Osama Bin Laden (in the comments). Pardon me, but I never heard any such thing or anything of that magnitude for them. I do believe it was the media that talked about this.
All this forces me to wonder if the American people really deserve to be defended in the way that the military and the law enforcement does.

“If any terrorist decides to do this, everybody’s going to want to know why the Bush administration didn’t stop him.”
Well, the Bush administration didn’t stop the last big terrorist attack, despite multiple warnings delivered right to Bush’s desk, so if another one happens we can’t say it will be much of a surprise.
After letting Bin Laden get away with destroying the World Trade Center and blowing up part of the Pentagon, then invading a country that was no threat to us, then letting an entire city drown while bungling the prosecution of the alleged “dirty bomber” terrorist, I think it’s safe to say there is no depth of incompetence this administration cannot plumb.
And no limit to the excuses Bush’s sycophants will cook up for his screwups.

Mmhmm…
the basis for the allegations you make is rather… shall we say, shaky? Or, perhaps nonexistent would be a better word.

Hi t,
The real sad part is that the clerk who notified the FBI is in danger of being sued for invading the would be terrorists privacy. Liberals, gotta love them.
Hi stevenhart,
It would seem that you need to read up on history. The last big, successful, terrorist attack on the US, that being the 9/11 horror, was started during the Clinton Administration. Bill could have nipped it in the bud if he had been paying attention to world events rather than a certain intern’s naughty bits. Instead, he treated the repeated attacks by radical Muslims on the US as criminal actions, instead of the start of a war.
As to why Bush didn’t stop the 9/11 attacks, that blame falls on Al Gore, who, being a bad looser, drug the election out so long that the new Administration did not have time to properly prepare for taking office. Considering that Bush, as one of his first official actions, changed our policy toward Pakistan and opened better relations with them, that being a key ingredient in the successful invasion of Afghanistan (which you should note was predicted from the start as doomed to failure by the liberal press), was on the ball from the start. Thus, if Gore had sucked it in like a man, instead of whining and crying to lawyers for weeks, Bush may have had time to prevent the attacks. Of course, in that event, you liberals would have been screaming for his blood for having violated some right of the would be mass murderers. So, while Clinton failed to take action against these rabid killers even after repeated attacks on his watch, Bush was beginning to take measures against them, even before the attack started on Bill’s watch occurred.

Steven,
You make the allegation that “…Well, the Bush administration didn’t stop the last big terrorist attack…”
You are aware that Sudan offered Bin Laden to the Clinton Administration way back in (get ready for this…) 1996? I don’t know but I think if Clinton had acted on this there would have been no September 11th. Something to think about when talking about Presidents who have fouled up in protecting this great country.

If one needs proof, turn to Clinton Let Bin Laden Slip Away and Metastasize

I appreciate your sentiment there.
We really have so much to be thankful for, and even though there doesn’t exist a perfect government, military, etc, we do have those that are TRYING to do their job for our protection.
The apathy that you discuss is definately out there.
Perhaps the terrorist should target game consoles and cable tv to get people’s irish up.
